Every day, you’ll get to meet new people when you work in the aged care industry. You’ll learn a lot about life and their lived experience and will learn how to interact with people from all walks of life. And no doubt the seniors will have plenty of good stories to share over a cup of tea!

There are many opportunities for flexibility and variation in your day when you work in aged care. It’s certainly not a desk job where you just push around paper for eight hours a day. Recent forecasts predict the number of Australians reaching the age of 65 is estimated to more than double in the next 40 years, from approximately 3.6 million in 2014-15 to 8.9 million in 2054-55. Effectively, this means that the aged care industry is experiencing a long-term boom and this is great news for those working in the industry because it can offer great opportunities and job security.

There are also plenty of careers in the aged care industry that are outside the traditional nursing home setup.
