Yorke Institute – COVID 19 Short Courses
The Federal Government has developed several short courses in response to COVID-19. These courses are available now through York Institute and will continue for the duration of the pandemic. Designed to rapidly upskill students for immediate application in the workplace, the government’s objective is to fill gaps in skills and knowledge in relation to best practice hygiene and management.
Government Funded
Students enrolled at Yorke Institute can pursue the following short course options including the HLTINFCOV001 Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures. These COVID -19 short courses are government funded and available for the duration of the pandemic.
HLTINFCOV001 Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures
The HLTINFCOV001 Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures is a nationally recognised, funded short course developed by the Federal Government to minimise risk in the work place from COVID-19. This course is FREE for Australian and New Zealand citizens and also for international students working in a relevant industry. Students can train online or in the workplace and training will be completed in a single day.
The government has identified three industries most heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic – Retail, Food Handling, and Transport & Logistics. These short courses address specific skill sets to help minimise infection for employees while carrying out daily duties in the workplace. Whether you are an owner worried about an outbreak shutting down your business or an employee looking to upskill, this course offers an excellent theoretical framework and practical, applicable solutions for managing the risks of COVID infection.
CHCSS00114 Entry into Care Roles Skill Set
The CHCSS00114 Entry into Care Roles Skill Set has been developed to address a shortage of skills in the healthcare industry. This is not a funded course. However, Yorke offers this entry level short course at an attractive rate with a flexible payment plan. The CHCSS00114 Entry into Care Roles Skill Set is designed to give graduates an immediate start in the fields of aged care, leisure and healthcare or disability. This COVID short courses is ideal for prospective students who may be entering the workforce for the first time or seeking to upskill to find employment.
Accreditation
Students learn all the requisite theoretical skills online in preparation for deployment in the workforce. Students become fully accredited following a supervised workplace assessment of the core units of competency and can then continue their employment as normal.
Further Study
Once established in their job role, graduates of the HLTINFCOV001 Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures short course will be ideally placed for further study with options to upskill to a CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support or a CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health where they can qualify to become a PCA, Disability Officer- Day Support, Community Leisure Officer and more.
